Winemaker Notes:
Zinfandel is a very vigorous plant. Late spring or early summer Zinfandel throws a second crop, usually very small bunches. In the long run, it is dropped on the ground to help the plant ripen it's initial crop. In 2003, we made second crop Zinfandel in the style of a reserve. Look for big new oak American and French, huge fruit, blackberry, cherry, mid palate, full of medium tannins and almost a Cabernet finish.

Just finished my last bottle. I must say that cellaring this wine did not do it justice. Wished I followed my previous review to open soon. The wine lost a lot of the characteristics that I enjoyed at the tasting room and in previous bottles. The wine wasn't terrible, very drinkable but much more mellow. On the nose the wine had dark fruits and cola. While on the palate, there was blueberries, cherries and a slight pepper finish. Tasted Feb'08.

Opened one of my last few of this wine (recommended that these be opened sooner than later). As my previous review, this wine is excellent. Both the aroma and taste are full of berries (cherries and other dark berries). The wine has aged well in the bottle (bought a little over a year ago). The wine is medium body with a nice smooth finish. Only one bottle left!!! Tasted Oct'07.

Fantastic zin that is definitely ready to drink now. Smooth and full-bodied with flavors of dark cherry and a bit of earthiness. Warm and long finish. Too bad this wine is sold out. I'd love to get my hands on a few more bottles of this stuff. Tasted June 2007.

To quote Sewell, "This wine is bitchin'." I would have to agree. This is my first second crop zinfandel and I was pleasantly surprised by the robust fruity taste. Excellent finish with mild tannins. I have a feeling this wine will sell out quickly and is one of the best zins that I have had that is under $30. By far the best wine of the day!! Tasted Jul'06.

Fantastic zinfandel. Smooth to drink and nicely balanced. Dark fruits pronounced in the flavor and aroma. Drinking well now, but could hold out for a few more years. Fairly light for a zinfandel. Probably better paired with BBQ. Tasted July 1, 2006.
